Having a Social Security benefit accepted means, among other things, knowing at what time of the month we will get a monthly check. This is true for all beneficiaries in the United States who get one of these monthly payments. If you have an accepted benefit, you can mark on the calendar in advance the day on which the money will be available to you.
However, it is true that there are several days in total on which the Social Security Administration pays retirement checks. Therefore, we cannot get all the checks sent to us, but only the checks from the groups to which we belong. Thus, beneficiaries can belong to a specific group, in addition to getting an extra check from Supplemental Security Income.
But this time we are not talking about a Supplemental Security Income check, but an Age or Disability Retirement Benefit. These types of payments are divided into four different days each month. So we have to pay close attention to know on which day of each month we are going to get our Social Security payment.
Who gets the new $1,850 Social Security payment?
Americans who meet two requirements will be able to get the next $1,850 Social Security payment. However, today’s payments do not have to be $1,850. It is important to be clear that each beneficiary collects a different payment based on his or her work history.
Whether the check is for $1,850, $900 or the maximum of $4,873, the beneficiary must meet these requirements to receive it:
- Have a benefit since after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month of any year.
Only then can the retiree get the payment on May 22nd, 2024, which will be the last of this month’s payments. After that, there is another payment on the 31st, but that payment will be only for Supplemental Security Income beneficiaries.
In the case of not belonging to this group of retirees, it will be necessary to claim the payment. Since this is the last of all the retirement payments for the month, we should already have the check available from Social Security for the month of May in our current account.
