Americans who are beginning to collect payments from the Social Security program of the United States Government can know in advance which day of the month they will get each of their checks. This is thanks to the payment calendar issued by the SSA, which allows us to know this information long before the day arrives.
Without a doubt, having this information in advance makes life easier for beneficiaries, as it allows them to plan their household finances, purchases and bill payments effectively. After all, having just one Social Security check makes everything very complicated as it is, without also not knowing when each check will arrive.
But luckily we can find out the days of the checks and this makes our lives more comfortable. We can’t end up with an extra payment every month, since we only have access to one monthly payment, but we can end up with retirement benefits arriving earlier or later depending on which group of retirees we belong to.
Who gets the next Social Security payment?
The payment of the new retirement benefit will arrive on April 16th, 2025. This payment will be the 3rd retirement check of the month and will arrive on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, so only retirees in group 3 can access this payment.
On the other hand, to be part of group 3 we have to meet two requirements:
- You must have been receiving Social Security benefits since after May 1997.
- Your birthday must fall between the 11th and 20th of any given month.
Only if we are in this group will we be able to receive the check, although it also depends on whether or not we have activated Direct Deposit. This method of getting Social Security retirement payments speeds up the process and means that the benefits arrive immediately without having to wait an extra day.
Even so, it is also essential to bear in mind that the bank can withhold our retirement money. If we have any kind of debt with the bank, we may find that the checks are withheld until the problem is solved. In any case, it is key to take into account all the aspects related to Social Security payments, from the day the Administration sends the check to the amount we will get each month.
