In the United States, SSDI payments arrive on different days of the month to United States households depending on the group of retirees to which each citizen belongs. Thus, there are up to 4 different payment days, so we must know on which payday we will get our check each month.
Usually there is a regularity with respect to the calendar, but sometimes we encounter certain irregularities that cause us not to get the SSDI payment on the usual day. In the case of January, it is true that there is no irregularity with payments of this type, so we will have the group 4 payment on the next Wednesday of January.
When does the new SSDI payment arrive?
The day when the Social Security Administration will send out the SSDI payment will be January 22nd. On this day, eligible citizens will be able to enjoy their regular benefit. This will be the first of the January Social Security payments for this specific group, so it will carry the 2025 COLA included.
However, not all Americans with a benefit can enjoy this January 22nd payment, as it is only for SSDI retiree group 4. It is true that not only SSDI retirees can get the payment, as any other type of retirees can get this benefit, regardless of the amount they receive either.
Who gets January 22nd SSDI?
The January 22nd payment is for Group 4 retirees. No other group can get this benefit, so we must pay attention to the requirements to be part of this group. Thus, group 4 retirees are those who:
- Have a benefit since after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Therefore, if you are in this group, regardless of whether your benefit is SSDI or another type of retirement, you will enjoy the January 22nd payment, the last of all payments for the month. Remember to have Direct Deposit if you want to have the payment on the same day you send it, although if you don’t activate it you will still get the payment, just a few days later.
