In the month of August, the Social Security Administration sends a check to each different group of retirees in the United States. Thanks to this, Americans can mark on the calendar at what time of the month they can have the money available. The truth is that the SSA has already sent most of the checks to the groups and only one group of retirees does not have the money available yet.
And in order to get the latter of the Social Security payments, only two requirements must be met. In case you have not yet gotten your August retirement it is quite possible that you are eligible for the last of the checks. So check well if you are eligible and mark on the calendar the exact day you will receive your benefit.
Eligibility for the last Social Security check in August
If you are eligible to receive the last of your Social Security payments in August, it means that you have not received a retirement check all month. After all, the SSA sends out one check per citizen per month. We’re talking about the retirement check, of course, since it is possible to get more than one check from the SSA as long as it is the check for different benefits.
Be that as it may, the important thing in these cases is to know what are the exact requirements to collect the check from Social Security for the last payday of August. And to get this payment the requirements are:
- Have your birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- You must have applied for a retirement benefit after May 1997.
By meeting both requirements, we will be able to receive the Social Security payment on August 28th. This will be the last retirement check for the entire month, so after this payment we will have to wait until September to get a new check of this type.
Remember that the type of benefit does not matter in determining whether you get this check or not. In this sense, both Disability and Widowed or Age Retirement beneficiaries can collect this check without any problems.
Extra Social Security check in August 2024
In addition to the August 28th payment, Social Security will send one more payment before the end of the month. However, this extra payment does not belong to retirees, but to Supplemental Security Income recipients. This payment is a supplemental check for low-income citizens.
Thus, the neediest Americans will not only get one SSI payment during the month of August, but will be able to enjoy two different checks. The exact day of the second payment will be on the 30th of the month and the check will be the same amount as the one we received on August 1st.
The reason we have two SSI checks in August is because September 1st is a weekend. For that reason, the Social Security Administration sends out the check on the immediately preceding business day, August 30th, 2024.
