The new Social Security payment sent by the United States Government will appear in just a few days for a specific group of Americans. These citizens have to meet certain requirements in order to obtain a check for this benefit. As for the amount, each citizen will get a different payment depending on his or her situation.
So, in order to determine whether we have access to this new check or not, we must take into account that we meet all the Social Security requirements. So it is key to check those requirements, since they are the only way we have to be able to determine if we are eligible or not. Even so, in the case of not being eligible there is nothing to worry about, since there is more group of retirees who get check during the month of September.
Who gets the new September Social Security?
There is only one requirement that must be met in order to get the Social Security check for the first week of September. This requirement is to have had the benefit accepted prior to May 1997. If we meet this requirement, the payment will appear in the checking account if not on the 3rd day a few days later. The exact day will depend on the collection method we have chosen.
In this regard, the retirees who can get this payment from Social Security are:
- Disability Beneficiaries.
- Old age pensioners.
- Widow(er) beneficiaries.
- Beneficiaries of Social Security for orphans.
- Spouses with retirement benefits.
- Any other type of retiree.
Ultimately, the type of retiree does not change on the day we get each of our Social Security checks. Each retiree’s payments arrive on different days depending on the year of retirement and the day of birth. There are two large groups separated by the month of May 1997.
Retirees prior to May 1997 always get their payment on the 3rd day of the month, with exceptions. Retirees after that date are paid on the second, third and fourth Wednesday of the month. In this case it is the birthday that separates the payment day for each of these groups.
