Each Social Security retirement check payment day is totally different. And that is because each group of retirees gets a check on a different day. This allows United States citizens to know in advance at what time of the month they can collect. In addition, it is interesting to know that it does not matter the type of benefit to determine whether or not we will get the payment.
Any retiree can get this check, so we just need to check to see if we qualify. Both Disability retirees and those who have a disability retirement can get the payment without any problems. Meeting the conditions is more than enough to obtain them.
Requirements for the new retirement payment
Actually we will only have to meet one requirement to get this new retirement payment. If we meet it, the check will be ours. If not, we will have to wait a little while before we can get the Social Security payment for the month of August. The ideal in these cases is to control all this information perfectly to avoid unpleasant surprises and to be able to organize our economy perfectly.
The requirements to obtain the new retirement payment on the same day it is sent are:
- To have a retirement benefit since before May 1997. This is key, as this allows us to be part of group 1 of retirees, who always receive the first collection every month.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a collection method. The collection method is also essential to determine whether or not we get the check on the same day it is sent.
By meeting both requirements, the retirement payment will appear on the 2nd day of August 2024. The check can reach $4,873 in the general category, but the check we get will depend on our work history.
Retirement payment schedule for August 2024
After the August 2nd payment the Social Security Administration will pay other retirement checks. We may also see two different Supplemental Security Income payments this month. This will mean that some Americans will have three different checks available before the end of the month.
The complete August 2024 retirement payment schedule is as follows:
- August 1st. Supplemental Security Income payment.
- August 2nd. Payment of the retirement check for beneficiaries prior to May 1997.
- August 14th. Retirees with a post-May 1997 benefit with birthdays between the 1st and 10th get payment on this day.
- August 21st. Retirees with a post-May 1997 benefit with birthdays between the 11th and 20th get payment on this day.
- August 28th. Retirees with a post-May 1997 benefit with birthdays between the 21st and 31st receive payment on this day.
- August 30th. September Supplemental Security Income payment. The payment is advanced because September 1st is a weekend.
If we have a retirement check and a Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payment we will get three different checks: the first on August 1st, the second depending on the retiree group we belong to and the third on August 30th.
