The moment a United States citizen begins to collect a Social Security check, he or she can know in advance at what time of the month the money will be available. This is because the benefit payment always arrives on an approximate date each month.
With few exceptions, it is possible to know on what day each month’s Social Security check arrives just by knowing which group of retirees we belong to. If you are in retiree group 1, you may get a check on the first payment day of the month. However, there may be exceptions to this, although it is common for us to know in advance when we will receive our retirement money.
On July 3rd, Group 1 retirees will be the ones with the Social Security money. And to belong to this group it is only necessary to fulfill 1 requirement. Besides that, we must take into account an extra requirement to have the money as soon as possible. This second requirement is not mandatory, but it is recommended so that we do not have to wait any longer to get the money.
Therefore, we must belong to group 1 of retirees. And to be part of this group, only one requirement must be met. That requirement is to have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997. There are no other mandatory requirements except for the collection method in order to have the money as soon as possible.
This second requirement, which is actually optional, is to activate Direct Deposit. This collection method is instantaneous, which means that we can have the money as soon as the Administration sends the check to the current accounts.
In addition to all of the above, we must also take into account that on July 1st the Social Security Administration will send the Supplemental Security Income. Thus, if a beneficiary has both checks accepted, that citizen will be able to collect two benefits in the first week of July.
