Who can apply to the IRS for the Tax Season extension?
The truth is that there is no exact rule for applying to the IRS for the Tax Season extension. Even so, if we think we need this extension it is a good idea to apply for it, since we have nothing to lose by doing so.
However, there is something very important to bear in mind: requesting an extension of the Tax Season does not mean that we can pay the taxes later. Regardless of whether we have the extension accepted or not, we will have to pay the federal taxes on time, as we may be subject to penalties if we do not.

- We can use IRS Form 4868.
This will give us a 6-month extension of time to file the tax return. Remember that this does not mean more time to pay taxes, so forget about requesting the Tax Season extension to avoid having to pay taxes before the end of April, as this is not true.
