Social Security warns: it is only possible to have the new check if 2 requirements are met

In order to take advantage of the new Social Security checks, two requirements must be met and if we do not meet them, we cannot get it

Social Security will send the new check to a specific group

Marking on the calendar in advance when the Social Security Administration sends our retirement check in the United States is possible. This benefit is really helpful in thousands of American households, since many of the retirees have no other source of income besides their monthly SSA check.

And in the next few days the Social Security Administration will be sending the new payment to retirees in a specific group. If you are part of this group, the payment will arrive in your checking account very soon. If not, you will have to wait a little longer, as there are other payment days available within the month of August 2024.

The 2 requirements for the new Social Security

There are 2 mandatory requirements in order to have the new Social Security payment. This new payment will arrive on August 14th to those eligible citizens. There are several payments during the whole month of August, but the one on the 14th is only and exclusively for group 2 retirees. This group has its own conditions, as do the other groups of beneficiaries.

Thus, Americans who have a benefit since after May 1997 and whose birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of any month have access to the payment. The date will be August 14th and there is no other requirement for the Social Security Administration to send a check on that date. That said, the method of collection is key in determining whether we will get the payment on the same day of mailing or a little later.

If we choose Direct Deposit, the check from the Social Security Administration will appear without having to wait. If we do not activate it, the money will appear up to 3 days later in the checking account. We will still get the check, but a few days later. The type of benefit or amount received will not change on the day of collection, nor will the speed at which we will get the money.

Can I increase my August Social Security check?

If you have an accepted Social Security Administration benefit, it is virtually impossible to increase the amount you get each month. However, it is possible to apply for some other extra benefits such as Supplemental Security Income or even SNAP, although the latter is not part of the SSA.

But if you have not yet applied for your retirement check, you may be able to increase your payment. To do so, there are three things to consider. The first is the retirement age, the second is the salary as a worker, and the third is the years worked.

If we delay the retirement age, work for 35 years and have a high salary during that time we will enjoy a higher Social Security Administration benefit. The maximum retirement payment in 2024 is $4,873, although the COLA may cause it to increase in the next year.
