Social Security payments are about to arrive in August but not in this week

This week we will have no new Social Security payments in the United States and you can know exactly what the reasons for this are. What is certain is that the schedule of retirement payments are already decided and those Americans who have a check can know when they will have access to their monthly payment. But what is certain is that there will be no new checks this week in August, so we will have to wait at least until next week.

Social Security checks have a set day each month. This can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on our economic situation. What we can keep in mind all the time is that since the payment has a fixed date, we will be able to organize our household economy from the day of the collection of this benefit.

Why are there no Social Security payments this week?

The Social Security payment schedule is always divided into four different days for retiree groups. The first of these days is always on the 3rd of the month, with some exceptions. When the 3rd of a month is a holiday or weekend, the payment is sent on the immediately preceding business day. And this week in August is not on the 3rd of the month, but this group’s payment already got its check last week.

To that payment day we have to add three more payment days. These three days are the second, third and fourth Wednesday of each month. It is very common for the second Wednesday of a month to coincide with the second week of the month, but this is not the case for August 2024. For that reason, we have to wait one more week to be able to get this monthly check.

So now you know the reason why there are no Social Security payments of any kind in the second week of August. However, those Americans in Group 1 who have not activated Direct Deposit will be able to get a payment later this week.

When is the next Social Security payment?

After the August 2nd payment, which was sent to the Group 1 retiree’s checking account, United States citizens must wait until the second Wednesday of the month to see a new check. Each group of retirees gets their benefit on a different day.

In this regard, August 14th will be the next Social Security collection day. Only retirees with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of the month can get a check. In addition, it is also necessary to have retirement payments since after May 1997.

On the other hand, on August 21st, those beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of the month and a check after May 1997 will receive their retirement benefit. Only this group will have access to this monthly check on this day.

The last of the August retirement checks will be for retirees with birthdays between the 21st and 31st and a benefit after May 1997. The collection day for this Social Security check will be August 28th.
