The new Social Security payments that are about to arrive in September will have a little extra money over the payments in the United States from previous years. This means that if our benefit in the previous year had an amount we will now see a higher amount.
Of course, each new payment day will have its own requirements. Thus, getting each new retirement check will depend on whether we are eligible or not. If we are eligible, the payment will be higher than the previous year thanks to the COLA 2024. This COLA became operational in January of this year, so since then we can see this increase in benefits received from Social Security.
Social Security Checks with the COLA 2024
As we have already discussed, the increases in these benefits will be directly dependent on the COLA 2024. Social Security checks have a new maximum payment that make United States citizens enjoy a little extra money each year.
In this year 2024, the payments have increased by 3.2%, which makes all beneficiaries have gotten this increase. There is no fixed amount, as it is a percentage, so each beneficiary may get a different amount. Citizens get $3.2 for every $100 they collected in the previous year.
The maximum Social Security checks in each category in September 2024 are:
- Disability: $3,822.
- Retirement at 70: $4,873.
- Early Retirement Age: $2,710.
- Full Retirement Age: $3,822.
Therefore, to know the exact amount we will get in September 2024, we will only have to look at the previous months of the year. Likewise, by adding 3.2% to our September 2023 check we can also get the amount of Social Security.
