While it is true that the year 2025 has not yet begun, it is also true that the United States Social Security Administration has already announced when the payments will be in the first weeks of the year. What’s more, we already know the exact date of the first of the payments in January 2025, so just by checking the requirements we will be able to know if we are eligible or not.
This Social Security payment is very important because it will be the first of the payments with the COLA 2025 added. In this sense, we are talking about the first of the retirement payments, since the first of the SSI checks with the COLA 2025 comes on the 31st day of December 2024.
Be that as it may, it is important to know all the details and see if we will be able to get this payment from Social Security or we will have to wait a little longer to be able to get it. So, no matter what group of retirees we belong to we are going to get our check in January 2024, but it is possible that we will get it on days other than the first week of the month.
Social Security Checks in the First Week of 2025
The new Social Security retirement payments in 2025 will arrive for the first of the United States groups on January 3rd. On this day, the checks will begin to appear with a new maximum benefit, as they will add the 2.5% COLA.
Therefore, we should note the following regarding the January 3rd, 2025 payment:
- The check will be for Group 1 retirees only. That is, only retirees with a benefit prior to May 1997 can obtain this check.
- The amount received on this day will be higher than in 2024. The maximum retirement payment will be $5,180 as of this check.
Also, remember that the Social Security Administration sends out the check on this day, but not all beneficiaries can get it. To get the benefit on this day it is mandatory to have Direct Deposit activated. If we do not have this collection method, the Administration will send the check, but we will not be able to get it immediately, we will have to wait a few days until it is finally available.
