Official Social Security accounts announce that on October 14, 2024, Social Security Administration (SSA) offices will be closed in observance of Columbus Day. However, they comment on X’s own post, formerly Twitter, that if you need to complete any paperwork, the SSA offers several options to access their services through alternative channels.
Services available while offices are closed
Although the physical offices will not be available tomorrow, Monday, October 14, retirees and other beneficiaries can still use automated services both by phone and online. Some of the things you can do through these means include:
- Reviewing your benefit status: You can check the status of your application for retirement or disability insurance benefits.
- Benefit applications: Start or continue an application for benefits, such as Retirement, Disability or Medicare Insurance.
- Update personal information: If you need to update your address, phone number or direct deposit details, you can also do so online.
- View your Social Security statement: Access your work history and retirement benefit projections.
The Social Security website (SSA.gov) is available 24 hours a day, and many of the things you can do in a branch office can also be done quickly and securely through your personal my Social Security account. This platform allows you to access your personal information and conduct business from the comfort of your home.
Tomorrow, October 14, our offices are closed in observance of Columbus Day. You can still use our automated telephone or online services to conduct your business. Visit https://t.co/yUI7NUjURp to learn more about our services.
