Throughout the month, the Social Security Administration sends thousands of retirement checks to the different citizens of the United States. Receiving each of these payments depends on several factors, but what we must always keep in mind is that having your retirement accepted is enough to get each of these checks.
All United States citizens who have their retirement check can enjoy one of these payments to the fullest without worrying about anything else. Waiting is enough, although it is always better if we know the exact day when Social Security sends our payment to our checking account.
On the other hand, the type of benefit you get and the amount does not affect the time of the month when you get a check. For that reason, it is important to take a good look at what the requirements are for each of these Social Security payment days.
Requirements for getting Social Security earlier each month
The Social Security Administration sends out new retirement checks on four different days each month. Whether we get our payment earlier or later depends on which group of retirees we belong to. Depending on whether we are group 1, 2, 3 or 4 we will get our check earlier or later.
Therefore, knowing which group of retirees we belong to is enough to determine whether we get our check before the rest or not. Only retirees who belong to group 1 can get the payment before all other groups of retirees.
To get the payment earlier and be part of group 1 retirees, all we have to do is have a Social Security check from before 1997. There is no requirement to be part of this group, so it doesn’t matter how old you are. Simply having a check from before that year is enough to get the payment before any other retiree.
Upcoming Social Security payments in October
Before the end of October, citizens can get their retirement checks on one of the different paydays. It is true that the Social Security Administration has already sent the first of these payments to citizens, but it was not a retirement payment, but the Supplemental Security Income payment.
The schedule for these payments is as follows:
- October 1st. October Supplemental Security Income payment.
- October 3rd. Social Security payment for retirees with a benefit prior to May 1997.
- October 9th. Social Security payment for retirees with a benefit after May 1997. Also required between the 1st and 10th of the month.
- October 16th. Social Security payment for retirees with a benefit after May 1997. Also required between the 11th and 20th of the month.
- October 23rd. Social Security payment for retirees with a benefit after May 1997. It is also necessary to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of the month.
Just by fulfilling the requirements of each of the days we will be able to enjoy this check. Remember that by activating Direct Deposit we will be able to get the Social Security payment on the same day it is sent. If we do not activate this collection method, we will still receive the payment, but a few days later.
