In the year 2025, United States citizens with an accepted Social Security benefit may have seen an increase in their monthly check thanks to COLA. In the State of Florida it is also possible to get this increase and in the last week of February it will arrive for a specific group of Americans.
In this sense, if you live in Florida and you are in the group 4 of retirees before the end of the next week of February you will have your monthly Social Security benefit available. Although it is true that retirees from other states will also receive a monthly benefit as they are part of group 4.
In addition to that, it is also possible to get an extra Social Security check before the end of the month. If we are eligible for this extra check, we could get up to $967 more on February 28th, but this payment is not for all retirement beneficiaries.
How do I get next week’s Social Security in Florida?
The payment we are talking about will be sent on February 26, 2025. This payment is for retirees in group 4, which is the last of the groups to get each of the Social Security payments. Therefore, we find that the benefit payment will not reach more groups this month after this mailing.
Likewise, it is necessary to meet two requirements to receive this monthly payment. These requirements are:
- Your birthday must fall between the 21st and 31st of any given month.
- You must have been receiving a retirement benefit after May 1997.
This means that it does not matter whether you receive your Social Security payment for retirement due to age, disability or any other reason. Similarly, it does not matter whether you live in Florida or any other state.
On the other hand, it is also important to note that the payment for February 2025 is higher than that for February 2024. This means that our benefit will be higher thanks to the Passed SS Increase check from the COLA.
Extra Social Security payment in February
After the 26th payment, we may get another extra Social Security payment in February 2025. If we are eligible to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI), the 28th of February will be the day the new benefit is sent.
The reason for this extra payment is an irregularity in the calendar. If we take into account that in the payment calendar SSI checks are sent on the 1st of each month, we may find ourselves in a situation where March 1st is a weekend. As Social Security does not send payments on weekends, the check is sent on the immediately preceding working day.
The check for this benefit is a maximum of $967, but only the most needy citizens can access this monthly payment. It is mandatory to be 65 years of age or older and demonstrate low resources.
