When a citizen of the United States starts getting the monthly Social Security check, they can know when in each month the money will be available. This is easy to know just by glancing at the payment calendar, since it is a type of calendar that tends to repeat itself month after month.
However, each Social Security payment day is for a different group and the requirements to be part of each group cannot be changed. This means that we cannot change when we will receive our monthly payment at any time, so it is a good idea to check the payment calendar and always keep it in mind to organize our usual expenses.
How to get the next Social Security payment in February?
The next day the new Social Security check will be sent out will be February 12, 2025. On this day, only Group 2 retirees can get this payment. If your birthday is between the 1st and 10th of any month, the first requirement has already been met.
But it is necessary to meet one more requirement, which is the year of retirement. The month of May 1997 marks a before and after in determining Social Security groups. Thus, those who retired before that year form one group and those who retired after that year form three different groups.
To be clear, the two mandatory requirements for collection of the payment on February 12, 2025 are:
- Be born between the 1st and 10th day of any month.
- Have been receiving a Social Security benefit since after May 1997.
The type of benefit does not matter, nor does the amount we receive. Whether our check is the maximum or an average payment will not matter in order to get the check on that 12th of February, as long as we are part of group 2.
Finally, it is also important to note that without the fastest collection method, the Social Security payment will not arrive on February 12th itself. If we do not activate Direct Deposit, the payment will arrive a few days later, but it will still arrive.
