Getting one of the monthly Social Security payments each month depends on several factors. First of all, we need to have the payment accepted, but we should also bear in mind that if we belong to group 2 of pensioners, we may get the payment before Valentine’s Day.
Thanks to this, Social Security will pay us our benefit a few days before this celebration, so we can have the money available in case we want to do something special. Of course, if we don’t meet all the requirements, we won’t be able to be part of group 2, so we must check the conditions carefully.
How can I get Social Security before Valentine’s Day?
The truth is that we must bear in mind that citizens of the United States with an accepted check can receive payment during the month regardless of which group they belong to. The beneficiaries of this type of benefit receive their check monthly.
Furthermore, the amount does not change on the day we receive the payment. Only the year of retirement and the day of the birthday can modify the day on which we receive each of the payments. And those are the two requirements to keep in mind in order to get the next day’s payment.
The new payday, before Valentine’s Day, will be February 12th. The requirements will be:
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Have an accepted Social Security benefit since after May 1997.
Having a birthday between those days is mandatory, but the year of birth as such does not matter. Similarly, the month of birth does not matter either. Only those two elements, so both disability retirees and 65-year-old retirees who meet these conditions will be in group 2 and will receive payment before Valentine’s Day.
How much Social Security will I get in February 2025?
The truth is that the Social Security payment in February 2025 will be the same as the one received in January 2025. This year’s COLA took effect last month. Therefore, all checks received during the full year of 2025 will be the same amount as the payment received in January of this year.
Of course, the payment in February 2025 will be greater than the payment in February 2024. This is because this year’s COLA has already taken effect, as we have mentioned, so this year’s benefit will be slightly higher than in the previous February. Remember that each retiree has their own check and that the benefit does not matter in order to be part of one of the groups of retirees.
After the payment on the 12th of February, the Administration will send out another two payments before the end of the month, but these other payments will be for pensioners in groups 3 and 4. So if you are part of one of these groups, you may get the benefit in the coming weeks.
