If you are expecting to get your new SSDI payment on August 14th, you should know that the Social Security check on that day will only be for a specific group of Americans. Social Security beneficiaries in the United States who have certain eligibility requirements will be able to get a check on this day. The rest may get a benefit during August, but not on this specific day.
In total, the Social Security Administration divides beneficiaries into four different groups. Each group of beneficiaries collects their check in one week of the month. The nice thing about this system is that we can know in advance when we will have SSDI retirement payments available in every month of the year. And on the upcoming August 14th the new retirement payment will reach thousands of eligible American households.
Who gets August 14th SSDI?
In order to collect the benefit for this upcoming August 14th payment day we will need to meet a few requirements. Only two conditions need to be met to be part of the group of retirees collecting on that day. But in order to get the money on the same day of the payment we will need to meet another extra requirement.
The retirees who will collect SSDI checks on August 14th, 2024 are those who:
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Have a retirement benefit since after May 1997.
All those who meet these requirements could get payment on this day. Thus, United States citizens who fall into this group can enjoy the check on the same day of payment as long as they activate Direct Deposit. This requirement is not mandatory, but it is important to avoid delays in the collection of the benefit.
Other SSDI payments in August 2024
The August 14th payment is not the only one the Social Security Administration will send to citizens with SSDI. After that there are two other groups of retirees who may get one of these benefits. These retirees will get the money on August 21st and August 28th.
To see it more clearly, let’s look at those payment days and the requirements:
- August 21st. SSDI check payment for post-May 1997 retirees. Also required to have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- August 28th. On this day, the Social Security Administration will pay citizens with a post-May 1997 check who have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month of the year.
Remember that if we do not have Direct Deposit activated, we will not be able to get this benefit on the same day it is sent. The money will still be available to us, but always a few days after it is sent, as it can take up to 3 days to appear.
