In the United States, there are many citizens who only receive a Social Security retirement check as a source of income. The problem is that not all retirees receive their check on the same day of the month. It is necessary to be familiar with the schedule of upcoming payments to know whether or not we will have access to our money.
But it is true, in any case, that we can mark the day of payment on the calendar without any problems, since knowing the conditions for payment each day is very simple. Each payday is for a different group and each group has its own characteristics.
In this sense, just knowing the Social Security payment schedule and what the requirements are for each group is enough to be able to effectively manage everything related to our finances. In the case of having only this benefit as a source of income, it is key to know all this.
When do the new Social Security payments arrive?
Before the end of February, the Social Security Administration will send another three checks to groups 2, 3 and 4 of retirees. Group 1 has had their check sent since February 3rd. This group 1 is made up of retirees with a benefit from before May 1997.
The rest of the pensioners, those with benefits from after May 1997, will receive their checks in the coming weeks. The payment of these benefits arrives earlier or later depending on the year of the beneficiary’s birthday. Therefore, we have the following payment days:
- February 12th. Payments for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- February 19th. Payments for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- February 26th. Payments for retirees after May 1997 with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any month.
After that we will have to wait until March for one of the new payments.
Will I receive $2,000 from Social Security in February?
The amount we receive each month depends directly on our employment history. If you already received a retirement check in January, the payment you will receive in February will be the same. Some Americans may receive $2,000 while others may receive $1,500 per month.
The amount received depends on the age of retirement, the number of years worked and the salary as a worker. In any case, the February 2025 check is bigger than in February 2024 since we find that COLA has increased the checks.
