A specific group of United States citizens may very soon receive a new Social Security check. Although the Administration has already sent out these checks, some Americans may not receive them until the next few days. It all depends on whether they are eligible for that specific payment and their chosen method of collection.
Now that we are well into the second month of 2025 and we could also get an IRS stimulus check thanks to the Tax Refund, knowing whether we will have the new Social Security payment available is useful for managing our finances.
Even so, even if we don’t get the first of the Social Security payments in February 2025, we don’t have to worry, as the Administration will send more payments throughout this second month of the year.
How to get the new Social Security payment?
Each group of Social Security retirees receives their benefit on a different day of the month. It all depends on two pieces of information. On the one hand, the year of retirement. On the other hand, the day of birth. In total, we have four different payment days for these benefits throughout the month.
The first of these payments is being sent today, February 3, 2025, but not all Americans can get this payment today. The main requirement to be part of the group that gets this check is to have been receiving the benefit since before May 1997. But, in addition to that, it is also necessary to have a specific collection method to receive payment today.
And that is precisely the key to being able to collect the check today or in a few days’ time. With Direct Deposit, the money appears in the current account the instant the Administration sends it. Without this collection method, the money arrives a few days later. This is essential in order to get it on February 3rd or in the coming days of the week.
