The last Social Security payments for February 2025 will arrive in households in the United States next week. And while it is true that the check will include a Passed SS Payment Increase over previous years, it is also true that it will not include any increase over the previous month of January 2025.
So, the payment you got in January 2025 will arrive in the same way in February 2025. This will only be the case for retirement payments, but if you get an SSI payment you could get a little extra money in February, although it depends on many different factors.
Before the end of February we will be able to enjoy this last payment of the month directly. Thanks to this payment we will be able to get the benefit to use for whatever we need. In addition, the payment will include the Passed SS Payment increase of the Social Security COLA for 2025. Although it is not a specific increase for February this year, it will be an increase over the previous year.
February 2025 Social Security payments
So far, the Social Security Administration has already sent different payments to different groups of retirees. These have been the beneficiaries of groups 1 and 2. As early as tomorrow, group 3 will be able to receive their payment. In other words, in a few hours, group 3 retirees with Direct Deposit will enjoy a new benefit.
But group 4 will be the last to get this benefit, which will not include an increase over the other payments for the month or an increase over the payments for last month in January 2025. So, to get the last payment for February 2025, which will arrive on the 26th of this month, we have to meet certain requirements:
- Have your birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
- Have been receiving a retirement benefit since after May 1997.
There are no other direct requirements, but it is possible to receive a benefit immediately on this day if, in addition to meeting both requirements, you also have Direct Deposit activated. This check will include the Social Security COLA for 2025.
How can Social Security checks be increased?
The truth is that Social Security payments cannot increase once we start getting them. But it is true that we can get a higher benefit from Supplemental Security Income (SSI) if we meet the conditions.
The maximum monthly SSI check is $967, but the amount beneficiaries get depends on their monthly income. So, the more monthly income you have, the less benefit you will get in payment and vice versa. Therefore, to get a bigger SSI each month, you will have to have a lower income.
