September retirement payments have already been sent in full to United States citizens with an accepted Social Security payment. But in the case of the October checks, the calendar has not yet begun. For that reason, those Americans who are waiting to receive one of the retirement checks could be getting it soon.
So, to find out if we will have the new one of the Social Security payments in our checking account we just have to look at the mandatory requirements. Each retirement payment day has different requirements. Therefore, by checking the schedule of payments and requirements we will have enough information to determine if the next collection day will be for us.
Next Social Security payment and its requirements
When the October 2024 payment schedule goes live, the first group of Social Security retirees to collect their benefit will be group 1. To belong to group 1 it is only necessary to meet one requirement, although we must meet another extra requirement if what we are looking for is to have the payment on the same day of remittance.
The payment day will be the 3rd of October. And in order to get the payment on the same day, October 3, 2024, we must meet these requirements:
- Have a Social Security benefit since before May 1997.
- Activate Direct Deposit as a collection method.
This last requirement is only mandatory if we seek to have the benefit money on the same day it is sent. If we do not have this collection method activated, the payment will arrive in one of the days following the remittance.
Also, remember that any type of benefit will arrive to the beneficiaries’ current account. That is to say, it does not matter if our check is for retirement due to age, disability or other reasons. The important thing in these cases is only to have the payment accepted before May 1997.
On the other hand, it should also be noted that the amount does not affect the day of collection. So if we have the maximum payment of $4,873 or a much smaller check, Social Security will still send us the check on this day just by meeting the established requirement.
