Disability benefits in the United States reach the pockets of beneficiary citizens in the next few hours, but only for those who are eligible. Having one of these benefits accepted means that we can count on the benefit and thus enjoy our situation to the full, which in the case of having an SSDI check is not always entirely comfortable.
Although it is true that having only one SSDI payment as a source of income is not recommended, it is also true that we can know in advance when we will receive each of the payments, which makes life a little easier for beneficiaries with a disability check. But best of all, it is not mandatory to have a disability check to receive this monthly payment, as any other type of Social Security retiree can receive it.
In this sense, citizens with a retirement payment, whether for disability or not, can receive the payment if they meet the established requirements. Not all retirement beneficiaries can receive the check, since the retirement payment arrives on different days depending on the group of retirees to which we belong.
Which disability retirees receive the new payment?
The new disability retirement payment will arrive in households in the United States on April 16, 2025. Only retirees in group 3 can receive this monthly payment, so we must keep this in mind when organizing our finances. If we are part of group 3, we will be able to receive the payment soon.
But if we are not part of this group, we have nothing to worry about, since the retirement check may arrive in the following months. Everything will depend directly on the group of retirees. If we are in group 1 or 2, the payment should already be in the checking account, since the Social Security Administration already paid two checks in the month of April.
To be part of group 3, disability retirees must meet two requirements: Have a check from after May 1997 and have a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month. There are no other requirements to have this payment accepted, so meeting both is more than enough.
If we are part of group 4, the payment will also arrive on the 23rd of April, which will be the last of the month’s payments. Keeping this in mind at all times is key to organizing the money that goes into our checking account. If, for some reason, we don’t get the payment on the same day or a few days later, we should claim it as soon as possible, since the retirement benefit usually arrives shortly after it is sent, whether for Disability or for another type of retirement.
