Social Security beneficiaries have a different collection day each month. While it is true that the United States retirement payment schedule follows general rules, sometimes we have to check whether we will get a check soon or not. And in the next few days we may see a new check for retirees, but not for all retirees.
If we want to get the new Social Security retirement payment we are going to have to be in group 2 of retirees. The rest of the beneficiaries will have to wait until they get their new check. Even so, it is true that one of the groups, the first group of retirees, already has their August Social Security check in their checking account.
Who will not get the next August Social Security check?
In order to determine whether or not we will get this new Social Security check, let’s check to see which groups are not getting it. The groups that will not have access to this upcoming August 14th check will be groups 1, 3 and 4. As we have already mentioned, only group 2 is the one that gets this new benefit.
Therefore, in order to get the check we need to meet two requirements:
- Have a birthday between the 1st and 10th of any month.
- Have a retirement benefit of any kind that has been requested as of May 1997.
Both requirements are mandatory to be part of group 2 retirees. This group always gets the benefit on the second Wednesday of each month, with minor exceptions. This will be the case in August.
Other Social Security payments in August
While it is true that the August 14th payment will be for retiree group 2, all other groups will get their checks in the coming weeks. Group 1 already got their benefit on August 2nd. It is usual for this group to get the money on the 3rd of each month, but that day is a weekend in August and for that reason the benefit arrived earlier to the beneficiaries.
Social Security Group 3 retirees will get their check on August 21st. This group is for beneficiaries with a benefit after May 1997 and birthdays between the 11th and 20th of any month. The day is the third Wednesday of the month, as is common for this group.
Finally, group 4 retirees will have their check on August 28th. To be part of this group it is not only necessary to have a benefit after May 1997, but also to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Even so, these will not be the last payments for the entire month. After the August 28th payment, there will also be an extra Supplemental Security Income payment. This extra payment will be on the 30th of the month for all recipients of this monthly Social Security benefit.
