When we apply for a retirement benefit from Social Security in the United States, we will always be able to mark on the calendar when we will get our monthly check. Thanks to this organization, having a controlled monthly budget is possible, which makes life much easier for American retirees.
However, we must also bear in mind at all times that the day of collection will depend on which group of retirees we belong to. Each group of retirees collects on a different day and it is vital to know the exact day on which we will be able to receive our benefit. Although it is not advisable, many American retirees do not get any income other than Social Security, which is why knowing the payment schedule is so important.
Social Security Schedule for April 2025
In total, in the month of April 2025 we will see four different payment days. Barring any last-minute surprises, the Administration will send the payments on the usual days, so we will not have any irregularities in next month’s calendar.
To be clear, let’s see which days in April we could get our Social Security payment on, depending on which group of retirees we belong to:
- April 3. Payments for pensioners prior to May 1997.
- April 9. Pensioners after May 1997 are in this group. You must also have your birthday between the 1st and the 10th of any month.
- April 16. Pensioners after May 1997 are in this group. You must also have your birthday between the 11th and the 20th of any month.
- April 23. Retirees after May 1997 are in this group. Your birthday must also fall between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Therefore, we can conclude that by simply activating Direct Deposit we will receive the money on those specific days. Remember that the Administration sends the payment on those days, but getting them earlier or later will depend on our collection method.
Extra Social Security payment in April
In addition to these four payments, the Social Security Administration will send an extra payment in April to certain beneficiaries. On April 1st, SSI beneficiaries will be able to receive the check corresponding to this extra financial help.
Remember that to receive this monthly payment you must meet two requirements:
- Be 65 years of age or older or have a disability.
- Having low economic resources and low monthly income.
This check is compatible with Social Security, so you could get both checks without any problem. The extra payment is up to $967, but each beneficiary citizen receives a benefit based on their monthly income.
