If we have an accepted payment from Social Security, we have to check all the conditions to see if we will get the new retirement check

Social Security new checks are coming to a group of Americans

Although it is true that just having the monthly Social Security payment accepted is enough to get the check each month, it is also true that not all households in the United States can receive these payments on the same days. Each citizen gets their benefit on a different day, so it is important to keep this in mind when planning our finances.

On April 3rd, 2025, the Social Security Administration will send a new check to thousands of eligible Americans. Just having the benefit accepted already fulfills one of the requirements, but it is true that we have to belong to a specific group in order to obtain this benefit on April 3rd.

Whatever the case, if our Social Security check is accepted, we will receive the payment during the month of April, but we could receive it a few days later. It all depends on our retirement group and also on the collection method we have activated. If we have activated the fastest collection method, the payment may arrive soon, but all factors are important.

Who receives the April 3rd Social Security?

There is only one mandatory requirement for the Administration to send the check for April 3rd to our checking account. This check for April 3rd will go to those Americans who have applied for retirement benefits since before May 1997.

This group is the one that can get the payment, so getting it on that day is only possible under these circumstances. If we are not part of this group, we will be able to enjoy the payment on another day of the month, so we have to look closely at the payment calendar to determine the time of the month when we will enjoy Social Security.

Other Social Security payments in April 2025

After the payment on April 3rd, we may receive other checks on the 9th, 16th, or 23rd of the month. In order to determine whether we will receive the check earlier or later, we have to look at which group of retirees we belong to.

The payment on April 9th is only for retirees in group 2, while group 3 will get their benefit on April 16th. Group 4, on the other hand, will get their Social Security check on the 23rd of this month.

To find out if we are part of one of these groups we just have to look at the requirements for each one. All these groups have two requirements, the first being to have an accepted benefit from after May 1997. After that, depending on the day of the birthday we can determine if we are part of group 2, 3 or 4.

Remember that the day marked on the calendar is the day on which the Social Security Administration will send the payment, but not the day on which we will get the money. In order to get the money on that same day we will need to have Direct Deposit activated as a collection method.
