Payments from the United States Social Security system depend on which group of retirees we belong to. Being in group 1, group 2, group 3 or group 4 can change the time of the month when we have our retirement money available. And although this may not seem important to many citizens, it certainly matters for the economic organization of households.
When a United States citizen starts to receive one of the retirement checks from the United States, they can know in advance each month when they will receive the check. And in the remaining days of April we will have only two new payments, which will arrive on the 16th and 23rd of the month. The important thing, in these cases, is to control the payment schedule and the requirement for each payday.
Requirements for Social Security on April 16th
If you have not yet gotten your Social Security check in April, it is possible that you will have access to the check on the 16th of the month. But in order to get the payment on this specific day, we have to meet some requirements.
In this case there are two requirements and they are absolutely compulsory. We will not be able to get the payment on April 16th if we do not belong to one of these groups:
- Having a check from after May 1997.
- Having a birthday between the 11th and 20th of any month of the year.
Being in this group does not mean that we will receive payment on April 16th itself, but it does mean that we can get the check if not on that day then in the following days. It all also depends on the collection method we choose. In this sense, the collection method is independent of the day on which the Administration sends us the check.
Requirements for the April 23rd Social Security payment
On the other hand, if we are not eligible for the payment on the 16th of April, we may have to prove the payment days of the 23rd of April 2025. This will be the last of the retirement payments for the whole month and by simply checking the conditions we will be able to know whether we are eligible or not.
The requirements for this payment are:
- Have a check from after May 1997.
- Have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month.
As with the payment on the 16th of April or any other payment, the method of collection has a direct influence on whether or not we receive the check immediately. If we activate Direct Deposit, the money will appear immediately. If not, we will have to wait until we finally receive the benefit.
