If you live in the United States and are waiting to get one of the new Social Security checks, it is possible that you will receive the benefit this week. It all depends on which group of retirees you belong to, as there are requirements that must be met in order to obtain this benefit. Remember that this is regardless of whether or not you submit your Tax Return on time, even though we are in Tax Season, so we shouldn’t worry about IRS documentation at this point.
But leaving the Tax Return and the Tax Refund aside, the check on February 26th is only for retirees in Social Security group 4. Those who are in this group can get the benefit without problems, but without meeting the requirements it is not possible to get the checks. So check the eligibility criteria carefully so that you can make the most of this new February payment.
Mandatory requirements for Social Security February 26th
There are two mandatory requirements and without fulfilling them we will not be able to receive the benefit on February 26th. The checks for this benefit are part of group 4 of retirees and for this, neither the type of benefit nor the amount received will matter.
The only important thing in the case of wanting to form part of group 4 of the Social Security is the year of retirement and the day of birth. With both pieces of information we will be able to determine whether or not we will get the payment for February 26th.
To be exact, the first requirement is to have a benefit after May 1997. The second requirement is to have a birthday between the 21st and 31st of any month. Thus, retirees with a Disability payment, an old-age retirement payment, or any other reason can get the check regardless of the amount. Only meeting both conditions is mandatory.
How to get Social Security quickly?
In order to receive the retirement benefit as quickly as possible, we must activate Direct Deposit as our method of collection. This method of collection is immediate, which means that retirees do not have to wait a single day to collect the check.
Those who do not activate Direct Deposit as their method of collection will still be able to receive the check, but a few days later. It is common to have to wait around three days to have the money available if Direct Deposit is not activated.
Although it is not compulsory to use this method of collection, it is advisable, as it helps us to manage our retirement money more effectively. Without this method of collection, we will not be able to know specifically on which day of the month we will receive our monthly Social Security check.
