VA beneficiaries will have an increase in 2025 benefits. This is the same as all United States Social Security checks, since they share with these benefits the application of the COLA on each month’s checks. So if you have a VA benefit you will be able to get an increase at the beginning of the next year 2025.
That said, each VA beneficiary will have a different increase depending on their current benefit. Since we are talking about a percentage increase, each beneficiary’s check will increase more if he or she has a larger check. The higher the benefit, the higher the increase. But it is a fair system, since it equalizes all beneficiaries equally.
Be that as it may, what is certain is that the COLA 2025 will reach VA benefits and other beneficiaries to increase the amount they get. Without a doubt, it is a really useful tool so that all Americans can continue to pay their bills each month without the worry of whether or not they will have enough money. While it is true that the goal of the COLA is not to make the recipients rich, it is also true that the increase is always welcome.
What will the VA increase be with the COLA 2025?
The checks for this VA benefit will have a COLA 2025 increase just like all other benefits in the United States. We don’t have an exact COLA amount yet, but we do have some projections on that. The Senior Citizens League talks about a 2.5% COLA next year. This may not seem like enough, but getting 2.5% in benefits is a good amount for the full year.
Thus, the VA Disability payment could reach $3,600 monthly in this year 2024. Starting in 2025, if the COLA ultimately ends up having the 2.5% effect on benefits, the check could reach $3,690 per month. We would be talking about getting over $1,000 more per year.
When will the VA arrive in 2025?
The VA payment schedule, whether for Disability or other reasons, is very simple because it only follows one rule: it is sent on the 1st of each month. Thus, both in the remaining months of 2024 and in the months of next year 2025 we will have the payment of this benefit on the 1st of each month.
This is so except for the following exceptions:
- When the 1st of the month is a non-business day.
- When the 1st of the month is a weekend.
In that case we are talking about VA checks being mailed on the immediately preceding business day. Therefore, if we find ourselves in this situation we do not have to worry that the benefit money will arrive later, since it will actually arrive even a little earlier. So it is not bad news at all.
Remember that the COLA will not take effect until 2025, so the benefits you will get in the remaining months of 2024 will remain the same as you have been getting so far. There will be no increases in VA payments until the first of the payments we get in the next year.
