Social Security is sending new checks to millions of United States citizens with an accepted benefit. In this regard, we find that retirees who meet specific requirements will be able to collect a check today. However, we must double check all of these requirements.
However, those Americans who do not get a Social Security payment today do not mean that they cannot collect their retirement benefit. In fact, your September benefit payment may already be available in your checking account.
It all depends on which group of retirees you belong to. And only Group 4 retirees can get today’s benefit. This check is exclusive for the beneficiaries of this group, so we just need to check what are the conditions to be part of group 4 and thus get the Social Security.
Requirements for Social Security payment
The requirements related to each day’s Social Security payment depend directly on two factors. On the one hand, the year of retirement of the beneficiary. On the other hand, the day of the beneficiary’s birthday. By combining these two elements, we can know exactly at what time of the month we will get each new benefit.
For today’s payment, we cannot fall into the following Social Security groups:
- Have a check since before May 1997.
- Have a retirement check since after May 1997, with years between:
- the 1st and 10th of any month.
- the 11th and 20th of any month.
Each of these groups gets their check on a different day. So, to make things clearer, we should note that today’s payment is only for group 4 retirees. This will be the last payment for all of September, and it has the following requirements:
- Collect Social Security since after May 1997.
- Your birthday is between the 21st and 31st of any month.
Only if we are in this group will we be able to enjoy the Social Security benefit. Otherwise, the previous payments in September were the 3rd, 11th and 18th. By activating Direct Deposit we can collect the payment on the same day it is sent. If not, the payment arrives a few days later.
