Some of the August 2024 SSI, SSDI, VA and Retirement Benefits payments are already in United States households. But not all of the checks have reached American households, so you could still get the benefit in the next few weeks.
If we have one of these checks accepted we just need to check the list of requirements for each day. That way we will get the retirement payment on one of the established days. Similarly, SSDI or VA also arrive on the same days. On the other hand, we should also keep in mind that there is an extra SSI payment.
When do all the August retirement payments arrive?
The Social Security Administration pays different checks throughout the month of August. Some retirees get this benefit right at the beginning of the month, but other citizens have access to this benefit a few weeks later. This all depends directly on the group of retirees to which we belong.
On the other hand, it is also key to keep in mind that we cannot only get Social Security retirement payments. In the month of August we have checks from SSI, SSDI and other types of monthly payments. So we should keep an eye on the payment calendar to get a direct idea of when we will get our benefit.
Here is the complete schedule of Social Security payments for retirement and other reasons for the month of August:
- August 1. Supplemental Social Security payment.
- August 2. Retirement check payment for pre-May 1997 beneficiaries.
- August 14. Retirees with benefits after May 1997 who have a birthday between 1 and 10 years old collect on this day.
- August 21. Retirees with a post-May 1997 benefit who have a birthday between the 11th and 20th are paid on this day.
- August 28. Retirees with a benefit after May 1997 who have a birthday between the 21st and the 31st collect on this day.
- August 30. September Supplemental Social Security payment. The payment is early because September 1 is a weekend.
As we can see we have up to 6 different collection days. August 2nd, 14th, 21st and 28th are retirement, SSDI and VA payments. In other words, any Social Security payment can arrive on those days. The only thing to keep in mind is the requirements.
On the other hand, the payments on the 1st and 30th of August are for those Americans who have a Supplemental Security Income accepted. This payment can supplement our retirement check and the maximum payment is $943 per month.
The reason we have an extra payment of this benefit in August is because September 1st is a weekend. These payments usually arrive on the 1st of each month, but when it is a holiday or weekend it is sent on the immediately preceding business day.
